Some 10 years ago I saw this dream abandoned, Evernote becoming "just another cloud-based note taking app".

I've been with Evernotes since its first days, bought into the dream of a system which organizes all my data. The reason I am still paying for Evernote is web clipper and rich formatting. Encrypt a note? Uhm.Ī few years ago there were many reasons why I would choose Evernote over other apps: text recognition in images, tags, nested folders, sharing notes. You want to switch devices? Prepare for conflics. It just works! And it's very easy to use.Įvernote? Make sure you have a couple minute to let it open, wait for a few more until it becomes usable, find that "new note" button in the clutter of bs UI elements and features nobody uses.

The reason I use Notes? The usual for Apple. I use both apps and have been paying for Evernote for almost a decade, but lately almost always reach for Notes whenever I'm on an Apple device (my desktop and work laptop are Ubuntu). Would never think that Notes could be a contender to. First of all, I have to say that I'm amused.
